About Jones Eye Clinic
In 1971, the Jones Eye Clinic started in Sioux City, Iowa as the solo practice of Charles E. Jones M.D. The practice was general Ophthalmology and virtually all diseases, from pediatric strabismus to retinal detachments, were treated. As the revolution in cataract surgery, called phaco-emulsification, started with a few innovative practices around the country, Dr. Jones joined them in perfecting the techniques, which led to safer and more satisfactory outcomes from the procedure.
In 1979, Dr. Jones dedicated his efforts exclusively to cataract surgery. With growing demand and the emerging trend of outpatient surgery, Dr. Jones designed and built the region's first Ambulatory Surgery Center in 1987.
A second office and ASC was built in 1990 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Today, the Jones Eye Clinic performs thousands of cataract procedures each year. The clinic has grown to include a second generation of cataract specialists, Jason Jones M.D., oculoplastic specialist Yian Jones M.D., and Optometrists Wing Hsieh O.D. and Jacob Woldt O.D.
